Equipment/Gadgets
One thing that I have observed time and time again, by outracing riders of super-expensive bikes, passing runners with super-expensive running gear, and by analyzing crappy pictures taken with cameras I could never hope to afford, is that the equipment simply does not matter. It’s the person using the equipment that matters the most. Any skilled person can turn out a decent photograph with a marginal camera by using a little common sense and applying a little photography know-how. The same can be held true of any dope trying to use an expensive/complicated camera without knowing what they are doing. That’s the truth. Therefor I skip the expensive stuff and stick with equipment that I’m comfortable with and enjoy using. Here’s what’s in my toolbox these days:
- Abused Apple iPhone 3G. Looks like hell but takes a decent picture in a pinch. I still use it for photography for several different reasons. I’ll go into those soon.
- Canon SD940 IS – My best friend and favorite photography companion. Sounds sad, doesn’t it?
Lots more to come…
